AST Ascentia P80

Article Abstract:

AST Research's $4,799 Ascentia P80 is a mid-priced portable computer that offers abundant power and desktop replacement features. The 7.2-pound P80, a member of the Ascentia P Series that is compatible with either Windows 95 or Windows NT, contains a 166MHz Pentium processor with MMX technology. Among the other P80 offerings are a 3.0 GB removable hard disk drive and a 12.1-inch TFT active matrix screen. Slightly smaller key sizes on the 82-key keyboard requires some typing adjustment and may frustrate heavy word-processing use. The P80, with several adjustment keys, offers superior CD music sound that surpasses other portables. Its CD-ROMs present excellent audio, while the screen's images appear clearly and brightly on both MMX and Word. Office 97 loads quickly and quietly on the P80, which offers a number of options for drives, ports and connectivity.
