Automating Document Management

Article Abstract:

The essence of automated document management is to retrieve essential data regarding documents and their locations rapidly. Documents differ from data in that they are historical records containing information - not necessarily data or facts. Search and retrieval is speedy because documents are accessible by more than one entry point; related documents can be uniquely grouped, and ranges or generic components can be selected. Some systems are configured to manage documents that reside on different media. Turnkey automated document management is offered by a number of vendors for different size systems. Photographs of office equipment are included.
