Automating Mail Deliveries within the Office

Article Abstract:

There are two fundamental varieties of intra-office mail delivery systems, those that transport material horizontally, and those that transport material vertically. Making an appropriate choice depends to a great extent on the form of the building in which system is to operate. Low, flat architectures call for horizontal delivery, particularly if there are no more than one or two floors. Tall, multilevel structures demand vertical transfer, or if the building is large, a system with horizontal as well as vertical potential. A hypothetical illustration of this latter circumstance and photographs of mail delivery mechanisms are included.
