BIM Chairman on the 1985 Budget

Article Abstract:

Speaking on the 1985 United Kingdom budget, Sir Peter Parker, Chairman of the British Institute of Management (BIM) stated that there was reason to be both dissatisfied and pleased. The small budget has been utilized efficiently, alllowing the Youth Training Scheme to be enlarged and small businesses to be encouraged. However, the infrastructure is not properly funded. If the earnings limit for national insurance contributions is removed, recruiting good management wil be expensive. It is not accurate to call the 1985 budget a 'Budget for Jobs,' since it is not known whether there will be jobs for all the people being trained.
