BMC: large capacities help ECR, POS machines adapt to many uses: CR280 Plus

Article Abstract:

BMC Inc.'s CR280 Plus ECR is touted to track 900 price look-up codes with a coverage of 16 departments and a 9-pin port designed for communicating with personal computers. The machine adopts a two-station dot-matrix printer that makes 18 characters per line and a 45-key keyboard with a 450 x 410 x 111mm cash drawer. CR280 Plus ECR, which can be programmed with identification numbers for four clerks, also accepts eight-digit alphanumeric programming for the captions of departments and PLU codes. The system also enables clerks to serve clients in almost all kinds of transaction modes by accommodating four variants of tendering, such as cash, charge, split tender and check.

Article Abstract:

BMC Inc.'s BMC3000 ECR is touted to offer capabilities to track operations in 20 departments and up to 840 price look-up codes for retail operators. The machine is also programmable, aimed for use by store managers, to utilize 14-digit alphanumeric captions for the departments and PLU codes. BMC3000 ECR can accomodate four clerks at a shift following programming clerk identification numbers to guarantee efficient use of available equipment. The cash register, which adopts a seven-segment ten-digit display for operators and customers, make reports over financial data, cumulative operations and department activity for managers.

Article Abstract:

BMC Inc.'s TTM2000 point-of-sale (POS) system add-on board is designed for converting PS2000 ECR into a POS with real-time network capabilities. The add-on board offers real-time computer programming features, real-time consolidation and real-time price look-up promotion and price changes, following connection to the internal bus of the ECR. TTM2000 contains an Ethernet network interface that offers a 10Mbps transfer rate, as well as an Ethernet controller and an AMD386 microprocessor for data processing power.
