LSI handles QAM demodulator output, D/A conversion

Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi Electric Corp. manufactures the M65690FP LSI for cable modems, offering 64- and 256-value demodulation with error correction and performs analog-digital (A/D)conversion and digital demodulation. The product can also provide quadrature amplitude modulation demodulator output as well as MPEG-2 transport stream output and direct Reed-Solomon decoder output. Priced at $28.17, M65690FP has a 10-bit A/D converter, a voltage-regulated crystal oscillator and an error-correction RAM. The product conforms to the requirements of the US Multimedia Cable Network Systems.

Internet terminal features digital camera

Article Abstract:

NEC Home Electronics Ltd.'s Mulco Internet terminal allows users to send and receive e-mail containing voice recordings and photographs. The machine incorporates a detachable digital camera that connects to a telephone line and a TV. With pictures stored in the digital camera, users can create attach images to their e-mail. A built-in microphone and a remote controller also allow users to include voice recordings and character to their e-mail. The terminal sells for $568.
