Games and Education Programs Will Continue to Dominate Home Computer Software as Market Hits $2.5 Billion Yen in 1986

Article Abstract:

The home computer software market is expected to experience a boom in 1983. This software will be dominated by game programs with educational software being the second largest application. Game software represents over fifty per cent of the software that is sold for home computers. There is an increase in the sale of software for systems that cost under one thousand dollars. Factors that contribute to the growth of home software include an installed base of home computers, new entrants into the computer software market, ad campaigns and the perception of home computers as video games.

Cellular Seen Shaking up U.S. Radio Equipment Market

Article Abstract:

A study, by Frost and Sullivan, indicates that there is considerable competition between manufacturers of cellular systems for the U.S. market. Subscriber equipment, both mobile and portable, will experience the greatest demand. An estimated three-quarters of system expenditures will be for radio and transmitters, receivers, processing equipment and controls. System sales are expected to reach $1.3 billion by 1988.

China Seen Lagging in Computer Industry

Article Abstract:

According to Anthony Pau, general manager of Computer Engineer Technology Systems of Hong Kong, China will not be able to compete in computer technology until the end of the decade. The computer systems in use have been imported from approximately fourteen countries. Research institutes and factories in China are currently involved in computer related projects.
