Article Abstract:

With the increase in office automation, there has been expressed some concern about the safety of video display terminals. Specifically, there is concern over whether VDTs pose a radiation hazard. There is no danger. Some state legislatures have begun to legislate on what they consider other safety problems for workers using VDTs: keyboard attachments, character size, and amount of time a worker can spend at a VDT.

Article Abstract:

Internal opposition to office changes can ruin the best laid plans. Long-term office facilities planning is possible with some of the new and emerging technologies. Support from the top and broad participation increase the likelihood of success. The planning process must be objective and focused on realistic objectives.
