Memo: Business Tool or Toy?

Article Abstract:

Chicago is the first city to implement a cellular phone system. Cellular phones send calls by means of low-frequency radio signals; transmitters, set up in designated areas, pass the signals along. The advantages of the system include increased efficiency, privacy, static-free signals, and duplex operation. One problem is that scanners can break security. In addition, switching the phone to another car can nullify the warranty. Prices are expected to be high.
