Industry Support Is Powerful Enough to Sell UNIX As a New 'Standard', Even if Its Popularity Is Undeserved

Article Abstract:

Most industry vendors are marketing UNIX as a key operating system in a drive to make it a standard in office automation. Analysts doubt the possiblity of UNIX as a standard because there are too many versions of it, many of which are not designed for typical office applications. The market success of UNIX appears assured however, as end users continue to believe the operating system is the standard.
