Office Security

Article Abstract:

Kidnapping threats to business executives have put a damper on the former practice of notifying company divisions well in advance of impending visits. Measures for insuring executives' safety during business trips include using only carry-on luggage, eliminating the company name from luggage tags, and locking car doors. Only a select few should know the choice in hotel accomodations. Neither meals nor messages should be sent to the hotel room. When renting a car, the destination given should be vague.

Office Security

Article Abstract:

Thefts by employees tend to be committed by younger personnel. Thefts at Miniscule Manufacturing indicate that regardless of generous salaries, thefts will occur if the opportunity exists. Supervision cannot be lax. Job dissatisfaction is recognized as a cause for theft. Counseling is a preventive measure. Companies must indicate to employees that there are control measures and that action will be taken.

Office Security

Article Abstract:

Keeping cash on-site is risky for a small company. It is never a wise practice to follow. A small company would do better to reimburse employees with a company check. Diskettes, another valuable item, should be placed in an insulated records storage container.
