Samsung: communications ports open expansion paths for ECRs: ER-5100

Article Abstract:

Samsung Electronics Company Ltd.'s ER-5100 ECR is touted as appropriated for cafeteria or fast-food businesses with features common to all models of the series. The machine offers functions such as ten-digit front and rear displays, eight-digit random access codes and six-digit passwords. ER-5100 ECR features two-station dot-matrix printers and 50-item buffers for the receipt, plus the capability of tracking four clerks in standard configuration. The machine is separated from other models in the series with its data capacities and keyboards, covering 321 departments at three levels, using 12-character description and tracking 1,000 price look-up codes.

Samsung Electronics Company Ltd.'s ER-5140 is touted as having the features of other model in the series with a buffer covering 50 items for receipt and 20 for tendering, plus 40 departments. The machine's 90-key raised-design keyboard contains keys for all 40 departments. ER-5140 also has the No Sale, Merchandise Return, Add Check, Error Correction, Previous Voice and Cancel features, while its dot-matrix printer makes 21 characters across the sheet, as well as operates with journal and receipt tapes.
