Sony reels in floppy discs to serve as recording devices for digital cameras

Article Abstract:

Sony Corp's MVC-FD83K, MVC-FD73K and MVC-FD88K digital still cameras, which are under the Digital Mavica series, employs 3.5-inch floppy discs that allow easy downloading data to personal computers. Using a megapixel interpolation mode, the MVC-FD83K model can record images with 1,216 X 912 dots. Utilizing a 350,000-pixel CCD, the MVC-73K model enables users to store as many as 2,000 pictures. The MVC-FD88K model, on the other hand, is capable of recording JPEG still pictures in SXGA resolutions with 1,280 X 960 dots.

Philips enriches digital camera by adding extreme macro, remote control

Article Abstract:

Philips Electronics N.V. distributes the ESP-2 digital still camera, which has a macro mode feature and a remote controller for slide shows and business presentation. The lightweight and compact camera has a high-resolution thin-film transistor LCD that serves as a viewfinder and monitor. With a 4MB memory, the camera can hold a maximum of 100 pictures and editing is made possible with the help of the Philips PhotoStudio Lite software, which is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
