Article Abstract:

A study conducted by the Venture Development Corporation, 'U.S. Text Processing Markets: 1983 to 1990', shows that personal computer word processing software, electronic typewriters, and multifunctional office automation systems will be the most popular methods for text preparation in the 1980s. Sales of multifunctional word processing equipment should increase by thirty percent yearly. Sales of dedicated word processing equipment will fall off.

Television Pictures Transmitted by Telephone

Article Abstract:

Speech circuits are being used to transmit single frame pictures to television. Security, cost, and surveillance have been covered in the design. Previously, only video transmission lines that were dedicated were used. The installation of the system can be done at the remote site by Slow Rate TV, the developers, or by an operator at the receiving end.

Telephone Survival Comes from Conservatism

In 1983, retail telephone sales reached about $1.1 billion. Sales are expected to climb in 1984 as a market shakeout of the less reliable products occurs. Consumer demand will be for affordable, reliable, added feature phones.
