Systems in Action: Office Equipment at Work for Management

Article Abstract:

The Oakland Unified School District has installed four departmental Honeywell Office Automation Systems, according to Jerry Ardisonne, EDP director. Each system uses a DPS 6-74 computer which communicates with the city's DPS 8-44 mainframe. Word processors can now merge letters with selected names and addresses from the computer's files. Using a system rather than stand-alones allows movement of the staff without requiring retraining.
