Easing into Office Automation

Article Abstract:

Office Automation has awarded its Silver Award to Warner Lambert. Warner Lambert turned to office automation in December 1982. They began by installing a Xerox LAN program at the MIS-Office Information Systems (OIS) department. Plans included testing procedures and automation of the entire company on a gradual basis. The company decided to interconnect word processing technology with Xerox Star workstations and electronic filing and printing equipment to achieve greater white-collar productivity. OIS has recently tested a pilot program involving the Wang Digital Voice Exchange System. A chart of the local area network is included along with a map depicting communication lines between office systems.
