Word Processor Maker Sets Goal To Be Big By Remaining Small

Article Abstract:

Wordnet 21, by Conduct, is an easy to use word processing system. It is based upon an 8-bit Z80-a microprocessor. This system offers a fifty character search-and-replace, calculation, telextape reading and editing, text merge and extraction function, alpha numeric sorting, file management, mail merge and the C-NET local area network control system. The edit and text manipulation keys are marked with symbols to represent their functions. Wordnet is directed towards small businesses. Tables and diagrams illustrate the system features and options.

Processor price war ignites lively competition in North American notebook market

The notebook computer market in the US is being enlivened by price competition propelled by processor vendors, with models featuring high- performance Intel processors being sold for below $2,000. Reduced prices of notebook computers were attributed to such factors as cheaper hard discs and potential oversupply of LCD panels. Shipments of notebook computers in the US are projected to increase by 22% to approximately 6.8 million units in 1998, according to market analysts.

Small-Plotter Market for Business and Hobby Growing

The demand for small pen plotters has increased with the use of personal computers. An estimated five per cent of personal computers will use plotters by the end of the year. These plotters are used for applications such as: instrumentation, science, business and hobby. The availability of graphics packages that enable users to design and create graphics has contributed to the increase of plotter usage.
