AFE terminates 85 staffers

Article Abstract:

American Family Enterprises (AFE) announced in late Jan 2001 that it will terminate 85 jobs and significantly reduce operations while evaluating its new lines of business. Last year, Jersey City, NJ-based AFE decided to take the firm in a new direction after discontinuing its American Family Publishers sweepstakes mailings. The company sent its last US sweepstakes solicitation in Sep 2000 owing to a rapid decline in response to the sweepstakes over the past few years that had reached a marginal profitability level.
