Acxiom stock plunges after it cuts earnings projections

Article Abstract:

Share prices of Acxiom Corp took a plunge after the company announced that its earnings per share would grow only by 15 to 20% during the next two years. The company added that it would make substantial investments in its Acxiom Data Network and AbiliTec database technologies, which have the potential to increase its long-term revenues. Acxiom had profits of $21.3 million or 24 cents per diluted share against a loss of $60.55 million or 79 cents per diluted share for the period ending Sep 30, 1999.

Gateways sees stock surge after upbeat report

Article Abstract:

Computer direct marketer Gateway Inc of San Diegom, CA, has posted profits of $89.23 million on revenues of $1.91 billion, in the 2nd qtr 1999, up by 47% and 18%, respectively, from the year-ago-period. The earnings showed that the company's growth strategy is sound amidst increasing competition from Internet service providers that are givng away free PCs. Gateway shares shot up by more than 16% to $73 per share in one day of trading as a result of the improved earnings.

Convergys seeks stock slip despite strong earnings report

Article Abstract:

Call center, customer relationship management and billing services firm Convergys Corp posted second profits of $45.5 million or 29 cents per share, an increase of 31% from the same quarter last year. Despite the positive earnings, its share price fell by 16% on July 16 to $43.75, down from an opening price of $52.56. An analyst at the Robert W Baird & Co lowered her rating on Convergys' stock from strong buy to market outperform.
