Affiliated Networks is now called MAREX.com

Miami, FL-based Affiliated Networks Inc has changed its name to MAREX.com Inc. The business-to-business e-commerce services firm also has began trading using the new MRXX symbol as an OTC bulletin board stock. The name change is part of the company's plan to concentrate exclusively on Internet-based products and services for the marine industry. At the same time, the firm has also launched an enhanced MAREX.com Web site with new tools and services which include job listings, a home page, news and a business opportunities file.

eAngler gets $9.1 million by targeting 'smart money'

Tampa, FL-based Internet World Wide web fishing resource information, community and electronic commerce provider eAngler.com has received $9.1 million in second-round mezzanine financing in addition to the $2.5 million that it raised in Sep 1999. The online service claims that it has generated more than 90,000 visitors and 10 million page views since its Dec 1999 launching. The company caters to online anglers in a sportfishing industry that boasts a direct spending power per year of roughly $40 billion.

30 suppliers sign on with new Marex plan

Miami, FL-based business-to-business electronic commerce company Marex.com has cut deals with 30 marine suppliers, who have agreed to use the sell- side electronic commerce program MarexPO! These suppliers will also be the first to use the program. MarexPO! is designed to enable suppliers and distributors to sell parts, supplies and equipment to boatbuilders and other marine businesses through Marex.com's Internet World Wide Web-based transaction system.
