Airborne Express raises fuel surcharge

Article Abstract:

Airborne Express has increased by 1% the fuel surcharge for all shipments moving through its transportation network effective Oct 16, 2000. The company had previously imposed a 3% fuel surcharge and the 4% surcharge would apply to all US, Canadian and International Express shipments. However, the surcharge would apply to shipping charges only and will not affect the cost of other services such as weekend deliveries. Airborne Pres Carl Donaway said the company was forced to increase the fuel surcharge due to higher oil prices.
