'Apathy' shuts down marketing lab early

Article Abstract:

Kaleidoscope Media Group has discontinued the Live Research Laboratory, a 90-min teleconference for teaching marine dealers about marketing, despite several industry promotions in 1998. The program, which need the participation of at least 200 dealers, was terminated because only a few dealers have signed up. San Rafael, CA-based Kaleidoscope was hired by the Marine Retailers Assn of America in 1998 to develop the marketing program for the boating industry.

Clean Marina Program begins in Florida

Article Abstract:

The Clean Marina Program, an incentive-based initiative to urge marinas and boaters to maintain a clean environment, will be launched in Florida. The program was presented during the International Marina Conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Aside from incentive grants, marinas that meet the program criteria will receive a flag and window decal and will be listed on the Florida Dept of Environmental Protection's Web site and in regional boaters guides.

Is the media anti-boating? Yes, says speaker

Article Abstract:

In his speech at the crisis-management and media relations seminar, Barry McCahill, American Boating Congress presenter has expressed that the policy makers are influenced by media reports which in turn are influenced by environmental lobbyists. The media has not presented a favorable picture of marine industry and has been resorted criticising boat ing lifestyle.
