Cobra puts 3rd extension on date for Lowrance deal

Article Abstract:

Cobra Electronics has again extended the deadline of its tender offer for all the outstanding shares of Lowrance Electronics' common stock. It is the deadline's third extension, and Cobra insists that it is still interested in acquiring Lowrance. Cobra is using the latest extension to complete due diligence after Lowrance reported that it will have lower- than-expected sales for the quarter ending Jan 31, 2001. Lowrance manufactures GPS and sonars while Cobra makes CB radio, radar detection and FRS equipment.

CORSA Performance, a Berea, OH-based manufacturer of stainless steel marine exhaust systems and noise control products, has acquired GIL Marine Performance Products, a division of Ohio Associate Enterprises that makes the Offshore brand of performance manifolds, Gilbrackets, Gil Superstock battery boxes and Sea Strainers. CORSA officials believe that the company's purchase of GIL Marine will strengthen the firm's overall position in the marine exhaust business.
