DM efforts prove salvation for 'Left Behind'

Article Abstract:

Cloud Ten Pictures hired telemarketing firm Mountaintop Media to spread the word about the theatrical release of the movie 'Left Behind' to church pastors across the US. The movie was based on the best-selling series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B Jenkins but was ignored by Hollywood. Mountaintop gave cinema discount coupons to 32,000 pastors, who said they would ask their congregations to support the movie. The telemarketing efforts allowed the film to generate $2.2 million during its opening weekend, and grossed more than $4 million total.
