Cost study

Article Abstract:

The American Air Museum in Duxford, England, opened on Aug 1, 1997, following a lengthy fundraising process and 15 months of construction. The building, designed by Foster and Partners, houses a collection of 21 aircraft. Its main function is to protect these aircraft from environmental damage, and it was therefore necessary to give considerable attention to the control of humidity levels. It was designed to present a neutral backdrop to the exhibits, and makes extensive use of natural light.

Cost model: football stadia

Article Abstract:

The design of football stadia has become increasingly important following the spectator disasters in the late 1980s that culminated in the recommendation that all major UK soccer clubs should have all-seater stadia by August 1994. The design of new facilities should take account of factors such as organisation, site access and the need for additional parking. A cost model for a typical football stadium is presented.
