Article Abstract:

The Marriott Hotel constructed at Heathrow Airport in London, England, by Whitbread Hotel Co had a total budgeted project cost of 27.21 million pounds sterling. Construction work and design fees accounted for 21.8 million pounds sterling. The six-storey building has full-height glazing at the front, along with distinctive lighting and an architectural canopy. There is a five-storey atrium in the centre of the hotel. There is a leisure facility on the ground floor, along with conference facilities for up to 500 people.

Cost study

Article Abstract:

A 5.38 million pounds sterling conversion of a former linked council-housing block of flats into safer housing was completed by UK architects PRP Architects in January 1999. The Hackney-based flats had fallen into disrepair, with a constant threat of vandalism facing tenants. Each flat was allocated a costing of 48,900 pounds sterling, with up to 3,500 pounds sterling being spent for each flat to have access to a private balcony.
