Crown House falters on NatWest M&E

Article Abstract:

Crown House, the mechanical and electrical subsidiary of Tarmac, is believed to have experienced difficulties with the complex mechanical and electrical work required as part of the refurbishment of the NatWest Tower in London, England. There is speculation that it may claim up to 6 million pounds sterling in compensation from Laing, the main contractor for the refurbishment. Crown House had to completely replace the air-conditioning ductwork and sprinkler systems, and also undertook extensive work to the tower's main plant rooms.

Arch arrival

Article Abstract:

The site of the Waterloo International rail terminal in London, England is already dominated by the glass and steel roof. This is an arched structure that covers the five platforms and curves and tapers to fit the shape of the site. Work on the concourses, platforms and subterranian support facilities is also proceeding. The cramped site, next to Waterloo station has presented many difficulties for the designers and contractors who have to minimise disruption to the public while building to a tight schedule.

Sloane arranger

Article Abstract:

There have been many challenges associated with the 13 million pounds sterling refurbishment of the Royal Court Theatre in London, England. It has been necessary to work on a very small site, to retain the grade II-listed facade and to tunnel under the road to create a new cafe area. The work has required a wide range of construction techniques, including bored piles and deep underpinning facade retention. The client, English Stage Co, had to negotiate more than 80 party-wall deals before work could begin.
