Crystal gazing

Article Abstract:

A new glass pavilion has been built for the entrance of the glass museum at Broadfield House, Kingswinford, England. The pavilion is thought to be the largest all-glass self-supporting building in the world. The building has triple-glazed and double-glaxed sheathing panels and laminated glass columns and beams. There are no aluminium or stainlees steel support sections. Museum specialist Design Antenna designed the 60,000 pounds sterling glass pavilion. The building has been deliberately designed in glass to give the museum a more national profile as well as to reflect the glass artefacts held within.

Slimming tablets

Article Abstract:

Quiligotti has launched a new, thin terrazzo tile. The new tile is produced by grinding most of the backing away from the tile before its surface is finished in the factory. It is aimed at the refurbishment market where the depth of tradtitonal terrazzo tiles has prevented their use. The Slimline product weighs 44Kg per sq meter and can be fixed with a 6mm layer of adhesive, making it comparable with ceramic tiles. Its installed price is expected to be similar to traditional terrazzo tiles.
