Doen among the lost tribes of Milton Keynes

Article Abstract:

The town of Milton Keynes, England was founded in 1967 and, on its 25th annivarsary, administration has been transfered from the Commission for the new Towns to the local borough council. Thw town is acclaimed as a success with a population of 150,000 and a prosperous economy. However, the design of the town's residential areas with self contained districts divided by major roads has resulted in each district having a separate identity and residents not knowing their way around in other parts of the town.

High noon approaches for cable versus wireless

Article Abstract:

Modern office buildings are designed to accommodate the copious wiring needed for computer technology. However, the advent of wireless, infra red connections between computers and other equipment may signal the end of the need for raised floors and false ceilings. Experts are divided on the implications for future office design but architects could take the opportunity to ignore the needs of technology alltogether and design large buildings that do not need complex services.
