Dueling shows catch industry in a crossfire

Article Abstract:

New boat shows and the attendant competition between their promoters are creating discomfort in the industry. Specifically, the controversy revolves around the METS in Chicago vs NMMA's MAATS in Las Vegas; and the International Boatbuilders Exhibition vs the NMMA's Boatbuilding 2001. The two sets of shows are very much similar that they draw the same audience, diminishing their success and effectiveness. Their schedules would also create conflicts for exhibitors and attendees since they would be held just a week apart.

These include better supply chain management with a new order entry system, new finite factory scheduling and new forecasting tools.
