EPA moves on standards for sterndrives, inboards

Article Abstract:

The EPA intends to regulate emissions from gasoline and diesel sterndrive/inboard recreational marine engines after suffering a one-year delay in the rulemaking process. One of the biggest concerns facing the boating industry is EPA's proposal for evaporative emission requirements. John McKnight, director of environmental health and safety for the National Marine Manufacturers Assn, says the proposal would totally disrupt the market and give outboards an undue advantage since boatbuilders will opt for them rather than make costly design changes.
