FTC issues guidelines on online ads

Article Abstract:

The FTC clarified rules governing online advertisements through its staff working paper that was released on May 3, 2000. The working paper, entitled 'Dot Com Disclosures: Information About Online Advertising,' basically says that advertisements and other commercial messages in cyber space are regulated by the consumer protection laws that apply to traditional advertising media. It also provides Internet firms with specific guidelines on how to avoid making misleading and deceptive advertising disclosures.

OTC listed shell company to take products online

Article Abstract:

Citron Inc will launch a European website in Feb 1999 that will market a wide range of products from impotence creams and snoring remedies to electronic distributors. The company's UK subsidiary Project Rainmaker is developing the site. The company will earn through royalties from bannder ad sales, or from selling products from its Web site. Citron has been a listed firm with no operations until a group of investors bought the name and the company to develop a Web site around it.

Retro-Fit moves to online entertainment merchandising

Entertainment industry merchandiser Retro-Fit of Boston, MA, has announced the launching of its Web site, 360merch.com. The company said the web site would enable businesses to upload thier logos, place their orders and receove quotes in real-time. Retro-Fit will market the site through business-to-business e-mail campaign, trade shows, affiliate programs, and by an e-mail program to existing customer base.
