First arrests made under CAN - SPAM act

Article Abstract:

Phoenix Avatar based Detroit was spamming the mails with false product promotions and the promoters M.Chung and Mark M. Sadek are arrested under Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act of 2003. In another case on Global Web Promotions, Australia the company's fulfillment activities in the United States are halted and the Australian authorities are asked to proceed further in this regard.

No-call list proposed down under

Article Abstract:

The Australian Direct Marketing Association was trying to steer the land down under away from a U.S.-style national no-call list to a co-regulatory approach in which the industry played a role in running the list. The Australian lawmakers considered a national do-not-call list as a solution to consumer privacy concerns.

Canadian marketers await no-call decision; tougher rules on hold
