Get past the politics to the reality of business

Article Abstract:

Emphasis was on Europe at the 50th anniversary dinner of the NCBMP (National Council of Building Materials Producers.) The NCBMP is an effective lobbying organisation, has an excellent information network and publishes a good newsletter which is widely circulated. Discussions on Europe voiced the fear that the UK's continued withdrawal from the ERM (European Exchange-Rate Mechanism) would be bad for UK businessmen. Countries like Japan have only invested in the UK because it is part of the European Community.
