Steve Chaney, a former host on the network, and his family have faced emotional as well as financial hardship due to his terminal illness. National Media, ValueVision terminate merger agreement

Article Abstract:

National Media Corp., of Philadelphia, PA, and ValueVision International Inc. of Minneapolis, MN, have jointly agreed to terminate their merger agreement, which is set to close on May 30, 1998. The cancellation of the merger agreement was put into effect after ValueVision shareholders said they will reject the deal because they are against the idea of combining ValueVision's business with a company that has not posted a profit in over a year. However, a spokesperson for National Media noted that the termination of the original agreement does not mean that both firms can no longer continue talks with each other.
