HUD issues interpretative bulletin on metal roofs

Article Abstract:

The Dept of Housing and Urban Development released an interpretative bulletin in May 1998 to clarify whether manufacturers that design houses based on wind pressures stated in the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards must supply roof sheathing under metal roofing. The agency stated that it sees the standards as ordering every manufactured home design to include roof sheathing or an alternate roof material that functions like sheathing. It does not totally forbid the use of metal roofing.
