Home Web use growing in Europe

Article Abstract:

Internet usage in Europe is growing, but only 12% purchase goods and services for their own use over the Internet, according to a phone survey of 7,103 households in seven European countries. The survey was conducted by International Date Corporation in May 1998, in Germany, France, Italy, UK, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The survey showed that 47.9% considered their home among Internet access locations. Some 40% access the Internet from work while 28.8% access it from education institutions. Germany has the highest percentage of Internet buyers, with a total of 18.7%, according to the survey.

VKM employed Agfa Corp's Chromapress technology to print the diaries in four languages: English, Swedish, French and Dutch.
