In person: Andrew Wolstenholme

Article Abstract:

BB Construction Director Andrew Wolstenholme plans to reevaluate the firm's framework agreements during the year 2000. He has already informed a number of construction firms their services are no longer required despite past agreements promising them five years of work. There is some concern suppliers will be reluctant to work with BAA in the future. Wolstenholme also plans to review methods of payment to suppliers, in order to reduce the time spent on paying invoices. Wolstenholme was a captain the army. He took over his current role in Oct 1998.

First person: Losses and gains

Article Abstract:

The UK construction industry needs to tackle the issues of large contracts with caution, after construction firm Laing announced losses of 20 million pounds sterling on the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales in 1998. Firms run a higher risk by taking on large contracts which incur massive losses should things go wrong. The probability of risk can be reduced by firms merging to produce very large companies which can take on the pressures involved with large projects.
