Taking it hour by hour

Article Abstract:

There are some advantages to a daywork labour system, in which payment on a construction project is made by time rather than by measurement. Such a system transfers some of the risk of building from the contractor to the employer, as the employer may be liable for the cost if the daywork labour proves ineffective. However, daywork labour generally proves expensive to administer, as many small disputes tend to arise and considerable time must be spent sorting them out. It should not be seen as a cheap option.
