RSI magazine's annual Insulation Contractor of the Year award program has given the top prize to insulation contractor Denville, NJ-based Eastern Insulation Corp (EIC). The award marks the first time that the Northeast has produced winner. EIC has remained an independent concern and is still privately owned and operated by the family of its founder, Larry Sawyer. Its market niche has always primarily been new construction projects involving single-family homes, housing tracts, condominums, apartments, hotels, restaurants and assisted living facilities. The company attributes its success primarily to its customer service.

Remodelling renews house of worship

Roofing Siding Insulation (RSI) magazine's annual RSI Superhouse project presents a remodeling effort which builds on the proud tradition of past RSI Superhouses. The Deliverance Temple Christian Center in Capitol Heights, MD, serves a low-income community and provides its spiritual needs. The structure was formerly an ordinary residence and was artfully re-designed so that its exterior would more accurately reflect its mission of displaying a more visible image as a place of worship.

Manufacturers of modified bituminous roofing are introducing innovative products through the enhancement of materials, tools and specifications. Among the latest products are hybrid systems which combine two or three fiberglass plies with a modified bitumen cap sheet. The latest in torch- welded, hot mopped, cold-applied modified roof systems are described.
