Oil prices have most boatbuilders scrambling

Article Abstract:

Boat builders are trying their best to refrain from raising their prices in view of increasing oil prices which has caused higher material costs. Material costs have increased due to the increases in the prices of petroleum-based products such as resin, fiberglass, laminates, styrene, carpets and upholstery. Resin and fiberglass costs have risen by 15% to 16%. Boat manufacturers are trying to hold down costs by using new technologies and signing long-term agreements with their suppliers.
