Inverted posture

Article Abstract:

Research undertaken by architects in 7 European countries in the 1980's on 92 old inverted roofs proves that inverted roofing offers long-term benefits. Inverted roofing is when the insulation is placed over the waterproof membrane, giving protection from ultraviolet light and ozone damage. Inverted roofing is used on either flat or low-pitch roofs. The waterproof membrane used is either extruded or expanded polystyrene or mineral wool variants. Primitive cultures such as the Lapps and Navajo Indians in North America have employed this technique with the use of natural materials.
