US e-services company opens Munich office

Article Abstract:

Fort Point Partners, a systems integration service provider based in San Francisco, CA, has opened an office in Munich, Germany, on Aug 24, 2000. The Munich operation represents Fort Point's first global expansion and is managed by Eric von der Heyden and Borries von Mueller. Its strategy will be the same as that in the US, which is leveraging on the strength of its partnerships with one stop shops. Fort Point is also developing marketing strategies to boost its brand awareness in Europe and the US.

Donnelley opens Detroit mail center

Article Abstract:

Donnelley Logistics, the mail fulfillment arm of RR Donnelley and Sons Co, has opened a sortation facility in Detroit, MI. The center will be used to process various literature and packages and route these items to a nearby US Postal Service station or another sortation facility. Meanwhile, the company announced that it is planning to relocate its Dallas, TX, operations another suburb of the city to improve its efficency.

Penneys restructures after closing stores

Article Abstract:

JC Penney Company Inc will close 300 catalog desks in Eckerd drugstores as part of a $90-million asset writeoff announced in Jan 2001. The Plano, TX- based retailer will only leave open 100 Eckerd catalog desks, where consumers can place or pickup JC Penney catalog orders. Concurrent with the Eckerd writeoff, the retailer will absorb a noncash charge of $185 million for JCPenney Department Stores and Catalog.
