It's my party

Article Abstract:

David Goldstone, head of property development concern Regalian, has seen his personal fortune and that of his company prosper under the Conservative government, but still believes that it is time that a Labour government came to power. The Conservatives have failed in their efforts to revive the housing market, and homelessness and house repossessions have now reached crisis levels. These and other problems have a negative impact on the moral atmosphere in the country, and this in turn is reflected in the performance of the construction industry. Regalian's activities are discussed.

Liabilities, guarantees and insurance

Article Abstract:

The European Commission is considering a report on the implications of harmonization of laws relating to construction liability, insurance and guarantees. The report was compiled by the Group des Associations Industrielles et Professionnelles de la Construction (GAIPEC) under the co-ordination of the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC). This successfully represents construction in the Community by use of a heirarchy of organisations with individual businesses participating in national bodies which then subscribe to FIEC.

Housebuilders ask: where's the 5 billion pounds sterling?

Article Abstract:

The UK government has been slow to hand out local authority capital receipts to social house builders, who are becoming concerned over the effect on their businesses. It was anticipated 1 billion pounds sterling would be invested in social housing, but only 200 million pounds sterling has been released for the 1998 fiscal year, with 700 million pounds sterling planned for 1999. Social housing developers are concerned money could be used for education and health building instead.
