Company uses DM to sell extremist music, message

Article Abstract:

Record company Resistance Records uses direct marketing to sell the 'underground' music of white supremacists. The owner of Resistance Records, William Pierce, is head of the National Alliance, which has been identified by the Anti-Defamation League as the largest neo-Nazi group in the US. The company calls its specialty resistance music which is mostly underground and made by amateur bands. Pierce claims their goal is to mainstream their music. The company has a Web site, resistance.com which is promoted in the paper catalog, magazine and wrappers it sells.

Cataloger finds Hispanics like English text

Article Abstract:

Fingerhut Companies Inc revealed that, while its Hispanic clients prefer to order in Spanish, they prefer to read product descriptions in English text. The Minnetonka, MN-based company, a unit of Cincinnati, OH-based Federated Department Stores Inc, points to the shorter English descriptions as the primary reason for the preference. Fingerhut, which has been mailing to Hispanic clients for nine years, credits this sector with nearly $300 million worth of sales annually.
