Digimarc bridges online, print worlds

Article Abstract:

Digimarc Corp has developed a proprietary software, dubbed MediaBridge, that converts inserted watermarks into URL when images are read by personal computers' digital cameras or scanners. The visual watermarking technology work with any printed material such as direct mail pieces, credit cards and catalogs. Wired magazine is among the first users of the technology. The company will use MediaBridge to allow its users to scan or shoot picture of ads featured in its July 2000 issue and be taken directly to the corresponding web page.

J. Crew Group Inc is offering a vacation package to St. Barths for customers who will register at the apparel catalogers' Web site, jcrew.com. The sweepstakes package is included in the retailer's Summer 2000 catalog. Interested visitors to the Web site, who are asked to submit their name, e-mail address, home address and their credit card's mailing address, can win a four-day, three night free vacation to St. Barthelemy, French West Indies, if they register before May 18, 2000.
