Janus shuts TX call center, cuts 400

Article Abstract:

Janus Capital Corp has shut down its customer service call center in Austin, TX, resulting in the elimination of 400 jobs. The closure of the facility is part of the company's plan to slash 546 shareholder service jobs due to falling demand and diminished call volume. The rest of the layoffs were done at the company's headquarters in Denver, CO. In Feb 2001, Janus laid off 468 workers while another 45 employees are slated to be terminated by Apr 2001.

CSFBdirect will shut call center to cut costs

Article Abstract:

CSFBdirect is planning to close its call center in Parsippany, NJ, as part of cost-cutting efforts in reaction to the economic slowdown. The online brokerage firm has consolidated its customer service operations due to a long-term reduction in the volume of online trading. The closure of the call center will cost the company $9 million in 1st qtr 2001 but will result in an estimated $11 million in annual cost savings.
