Jones adds chairman to his titles at OMC

Outboard Marine Corp (OMC) Pres and CEO David Jones has been given the chairmanship of the company. The additional role in the Waukegan, IL-based maker of outboard motors was given to Jones in a meeting of the company's investors on Jun 2, 1999. Observers see the move as an indication of the investors' continuing belief in Jone's capability to turn the company back to profitability. Former Chmn Alfred Kingley, the head of the syndicate that acquired OMC in 1997, has taken the position of vice chairman.

Sandra Meurlot has been named senior vp for manufacturing of Outboard Marine Corp (OMC). Meurlot will manage OMC's outboard engine manufacturing and assembly operations. While she does not have marine industry experience, her nonmarine manufacturing and marketing credentials are impressive. She was formerly vp, building systems and services of Carrier North America where she was responsible for the profitability of the firm's $600 million sales and service organizations.

Buckley is named Brunswick president

George W Buckley was promoted to president and COO of Lake Forest, IL- based Brunswick Corp Mercury Marine Div. Buckley was formerly the executive vp and a member of Brunswick's board of directors. The company's chairman and CEO Peter N Larson said he, Buckley and other senior executives will work closely together in an operating context and on long- term strategic plans to assure the continued growth of Brunswick.
