Labour revamps schools PFI

Article Abstract:

UK government ministers are meeting with local authority, schools and private sector representatives to establish a new approach to private sector involvement in schools development work. Working groups are considering areas including new building, maintenance and information technology, and the government will announce any new policy decisions in Jan 1998. Issues under consideration include alternative models of financial and labour input, and the grouping of redevelopment work in schools, possibly across local authority boundaries, to provide larger contract opportunities.
