Article Abstract:

Employers must ensure that they take suitable steps to comply with the UK Noise at Work Regulations 1989, the main aim of which is to prevent employees suffering hearing damage at work. A noise assessment must be undertaken by a competent person, and remedial measures must be implemented if necessary. If noise levels cannot be reduced effectively at source, then employees must be provided with suitable ear protection.
